All Hallows Eve

At this point in my life, I'm not much for frivolous holidays such as this. As a kid, I loved Halloween. Who wouldn't want all the candy you can get? I was definitely for it. But it's really a lot of work as an adult. My two chillins, Darby (5) and Piper (3) will be all decked out as a Cowboy Witch and Sleeping Beauty, respectively (If you've never seen one, a Cowboy Witch is a hybrid of a witch, which was the first costume found, and a cowboy, which was the hat that she found after said witch was decided upon. Therefore, she decided she had always wanted to be a Cowboy Witch).

This morning is an example of the pain in the ass that is halloween. Getting up and getting ready is always a chore anyway, but this morning the whole Halloween thing just adds that 'extra something'. Darby is in kindergarten and her class was having a Halloween party after recess, so she was bringing her costume. Then Piper, who is going to the babysitter starts to cry because she wants to bring her costume. And we just let her do it because it is too much trouble to argue with her about why she doesn't need her custome at the babysitter's house. So, we are getting trash bags to put them in so they don't get wet, and along with all the other pageantry that is getting ready, we finally get out the door. Doesn't sound so difficult, but you've never been to my house at 7:15 am.

I'm not that much of a scrooge. It is kind of fun seeing them dressed up and getting their candy. Nostalgia!

An Audience

Why is it that every time I use the facilities in my house I have an audience? It's like my children have a sixth sense. They just know. And then they follow.

I will often try to find a time when they are busy playing and just try to sneak away to enjoy some private time. But again, they just seem to know, and moments later, while I'm enjoying this months' Martha Stewart Living, they appear. Asking questions about my various lotions and sprays on the vanity, getting into things, and of course, commenting on mama's naked butt.

Yes. This is my life.

Just Been A Watcher

Holy Shit! I've just created my first blog!!! Up until now I've just been an observer. A "watcher" if you will. I don't know how I'll keep up, but I'll try.

Please be patient while I get the hang of this. I am sure that no one will really even read this first post, but hopefully, in the future it will be a place for many people to come and hear my musings.

Today as I write this I am home with my chillins, I have a chest cold and stiff neck and just wanted to leave work early, so now I am hunched over this keyboard trying not to move too much.

This illness will certainly put a damper on my recent diet - more on that later, but I'm just going to admit to the chocolate chip cookie ice cream sandwich I just ate. It didn't make me feel better at all, but it was fun while it lasted. More later
